Literary ImagesSelected Book Cover Designs by Majid Abbasi (2005-2008)

Virtual Gallery at:
www.literary-images.comIt has been a while I have been thinking about exhibiting a selection of my book cover designs (2005-2008) entitled "Literary Images". It would be my second exhibition in this relation. In the previous one I displayed a selection of my works from the beginning up to 2005 in the Momayez Gallery. Having been doing this work for twenty years, I decided to sum up my activities in the last four years and to know my standing and let the audience judge my works. I had to set the stage for their juxtaposition in order for the audience to see the array of them. Therefore, I set about finding an appropriate venue. But, due to different reasons such as the tight schedule of galleries, limited time of six days (at most) for the exhibition of my works and several other justifiable and unjustifiable reasons, I reckoned that it would be better to reopen this exhibition as a virtual gallery which is what you are now facing.
This decision has naturally got some upside and some downside. The positive aspects include: ridding the audience of the heavy traffic in Tehran and of the probable problems for my friends around the globe to fly to Tehran in short notice, not making anybody stand on ceremony to come and visit my gallery, enabling people to pop in anytime they wish, etc. The negative points are as follows: the books can not be seen in real and tangible size; the real technique of printing can not be touched on; you will not see the designer (which might be better!); nothing like a printed catalogue will be presented to document them; no real venue will be provided for friends and colleagues to reunite; etc.
